Jwaneng Galaxy on Wednesday (December 7) collected three points from a BTC Premiership game against Mochudi Centre Chiefs that ended 2-1.

The game saw the diamond boys registering a Lesego Lubinda brace against Dirang Moloi’s sole goal.

Even though the Kgatleng giants were the first to open the score sheet in the 19th minute, the hosts fought tooth and nail for an equaliser.

Several goal attempts by Galaxy were unsuccessful thanks to Chiefs’ robust defence.

However, it was not all in vain as Lubinda hit the back of the net to set a 1-all draw in the 33rd minute.

Chiefs further suffered a blow when Moloi received a straight red card allegedly for using abusive language in the field.

However, Galaxy failed to take advantage of the 10-men squad and the game went to recess at 1-all.

The game became more vigorous in the second stanza.

Galaxy took the lead with yet another Lubinda goal in the 48th minute, decreasing Chiefs winning chances even further.

Nonetheless, a win for Chiefs was not that far-fetched and their hopes were raised high when Anthony Gouws miscalculated a pass towards his goals posts and it slipped from his hands resulting in a corner kick for Magosi.

The latter never bore fruit for the visiting side.

Chiefs put on a strong attack with the intention to increase the goals, but they met resistance from their opponents. Both teams’ substitutions did not anyhow change the scoreboard and the game ended on 2-1 for Galaxy.

In an interview, Galaxy coach Michael Sithole said he was impressed that his boys were gaining confidence in the field and managed a win, despite missing many chances.

He said by managing to beat a big team like Chiefs showed that they were on the right track and should keep pushing harder.

Chiefs coach, Bongani Mafu, said even though they were unlucky with the goals, he was happy with the effort that his team put in.

He said the plan was to improve so that they win their next two games. ENDS
