Pedigree Sport dresses Nico

Nico United has unveiled their new soccer kit from their technical sponsors, a local football kit manufacturers, Pedigree Sport.

Pedigree Sport sponsored the team with a home and away game kit as well as training attire.

The soccer kit was unveiled on Saturday at Syringa Lodge, where the chief executive officer of Pedigree Sport, Alan Molomo said the marriage between his organisation and Nico United would has a positive impact on Nico’s brand as well as Pedigree Sport.

He said they found it fit to associate Pedigree Sport brand with Nico United because the team is one of the best teams in the elite league. He said Nico United is a big brand and it has been stable on the elite league for the past four seasons.

Molomo noted that Nico United have a well-structured management portfolio and disciplined players. “Fusing Nico United and Pedigree Sport into two brands and moving forward into the future will have a good impact on the two entities. We will continue as technical sponsors of Nico United until 2019 and strive to get sponsors on board to fund the team,” he said.

He said the soccer kit his company donated was of high quality and would enhance the performance of the players.  He also described the soccer kit as being sweat resistant and grips firmly on the body of the player to allow footballers to manoeuver easily. Further, he said players’ surnames would be written on the back of their jerseys.

Meanwhile, Nico United’s vice chairperson - Technical Petrus Ditsele acknowledged Pedigree Sport for the soccer kit sponsorship. He said the attire would motivate players and encourage them as a team to strive to do better in their performance.

“Pedigree Sport has come at the right time to sponsor Nico United with soccer kit especially that the team faced financial challenges after the main sponsor BCL Mine closed down,” he said.

He said as a team they pledge to do well in the league and not disappoint their technical sponsor, Pedigree Sport, fans and supporters.

For his part, the deputy mayor of Selebi Phikwe, Mr Molefhi Pilane commended Pedigree Sport for the sponsorship. He said Nico United was struggling to make ends meet and for such companies to step in and assist the team was a welcome move.

He called on other companies to emulate Pedigree Sport by promoting football and supporting local teams. He however said Nico United is a big team and will not die due to the fact that BCL Mine who were the main sponsors had closed down.

The team’s public relations officer, Ace Orapeleng indicated that the partnership between Nico United and Pedigree Sport came at the right time and hoped it would go beyond 2019.

Nico United will celebrate its 50 years of existence in 2019. ENDS
