PPADB receives QMS re-certification

Botswana Bureau of Standards (BOBS) has awarded PPDAB a Quality Management System (QMS) re-certification for BOS ISO 9001 of 2008 in Gaborone.

When receiving the certificate, PPDAB executive chairperson, Ms Bridgget John said the decision to implement a QMS was a strategic one for the organisation.

“It was informed by the aspiration of the organisation to become a centre of excellence in public procurement and asset disposal, improve customer service and to positively influence public perceptions on procumbent and asset disposal,” she said.

Ms John said certification followed a rigorous independent auditing process by BOBS.

Which saw PPDAB QMS was evaluated and found to conform to the requirements of the ISO 9001:2008.

She was of view the re-certification was due to the hard work, consistency and commitment by the staff as they upheld requirements of the ISO 9001:2008 standard.

Since the QMS Ms John announced there has been a significant progress in improving the effectiveness and effectiveness of PPDAB’s internal processes and customer service.

“Our services is generally delivered on time in line with our performance standards, which we continue to review to shorten turnaround times,” she explained.

She further mentioned that another notable improvement was in the area of compliance.

She explained the QMS facilitates identification of deviation from requirements and provides a structured processes addressing the deviations to avoid their occurrences. Ms John also noted that they were aware of the recently released QMS ISO 9000 of 2015, and revealed that PPDAB was gearing to align with the new standard.

She said they will soon call on BOBS again to audit PPDAB and determine if they meet the requirements.

For her part BOBS managing director, Mrs Masego Marobela applauded PPDAB’s board for seeing it fit and important complying with the ISO 9001 OF 2008.

Ms Marobela bestowed her confidence that maintenance of the QMS certification will serve as a vehicle that will lead PPDAB to its vision.

She also stated that the flagship international standard was revised with a new version released on September 23 rd as ISO 9001:2015 and revealed that Botswana have since adopted the version.
