Mogopodi aims for COSAFA U-20 final

06 Dec 2016

National under-20 head coach George Mogopodi says his team aims to reach the final of the PPC COSAFA Under-20 Cup.

The regional tournament starts Wednesday (December 7) in Moruleng, South Africa.

Botswana is scheduled for Group A clash against Swaziland at 2pm on Wednesday (December 7). They will face Lesotho on Friday (December 9) and South Africa on Monday (December 12).

Mogopodi explained this week that the team has prepared well for the tournament though they have failed to engage in international friendlies. However, he said they played against some local teams to get match practice.

“We had positive results on what we have been trying to do. The response from the players was great,” Mogopodi explained in an interview.

Mogopodi said the technical team was working on combinations on the field and expressed happiness that the players have responded well to his methods.

The former Uniao Flamingo Santos coach stated that it would be important to win the group stage matches in order to progress and lift confidence of the team.

“It has been a healthy completion in the camp because everyone wants to play in the national team, and the effort they put in their training attests to their commitment,” he added. ENDS
