Motsamai donates karate equipment

Chobe Karate Club instructor, Otsile Motsamai, has donated karate equipment to the primary and junior school players.
In an interview, Motsamai said he was sponsored by the Department of Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sports and Culture Development, to the tune of P20 000 to buy karate equipment for the young boys and girls aged five years and above.
The equipment included karate suits, skipping ropes, club gym balls, belts and bats.
Motsamai said the equipment would help to boost the player’s morale adding that the idea was to promote sports from grass-roots level because sports nowadays were looked upon as careers that could create job opportunities.
He explained that the association is giving grassroots development as much priority as possible as it caters also for the out of school youth.
“The club has attracted 70 karatekas from clubs around Francistown,” he said
Motsamai also appreciated the sports ministry, Department of Social Community Development, Community at large, School Head Masters and Parents for their support to achieve his goal.
He said team was sent to compete in Zimbabwe and brought home gold and silver medals respectively.
Motsamai further said grass roots sports development is a reality come true besides the severe lack of equipment, the school are faced with lack of basic infrastructure, a playing field. ENDS
