School to have electricity upgrade
04 Dec 2016
Assistant Minister of Basic Education, Mr Moiseraele Goya has said the management of Motsumi Junior Secondary School sought quotations from Botswana Power Corporation (BPC) concerning the upgrading of electricity in the school.
Answering a question in Parliament, he said the school had also notified both the Regional Education Office and the Department of Technical Services.
Mr Goya said the exercise was carried out in 2015 and it was estimated to cost P250 000, adding while the school sourced a quotation from BPC, they did not have funds to carry out the works.
The interruptions to power, he said, did not affect the school on daily basis, but they impacted on students feeding and evening studies, adding his ministry would carry out the power upgrading in Motsumi junior secondary school in 2017.
Boteti East MP, Mr Sethomo Lelatisitswe had wanted the minister to state if it was true that Motsumi junior secondary school management sought a quotation from BPC concerning the upgrading of electricity in the school and notified both the Regional Office and the Department of Technical Services in his ministry; if so, when was this exercise carried out and how much was the quotation; what took government long to fix these problems.
