New ministries cost over P3m - Molale

04 Dec 2016

The Minister for Presidential Affairs, Governance and Public Administration Mr Eric Molale has told Parliament that the overall cost incurred so far in establishing the two new ministries is approximately P3 090 480 which includes both personnel emoluments and other related costs.

However he highlighted that this cost has not included other costs such as housing, water and electricity subsidies which have not yet been incurred because the newly appointed assistant ministers have not been allocated official housing.

He said the costs include creation of a total 12 new positions at a cost of P3 090 480  through rationalisation of existing vacancies including the positions of additional ministers and assistant ministers.

Mr Molale further indicated that other related costs such as housing, security, water and electricity subsidies have not been realised because all the newly appointed assistant ministers have not been allocated official housing outside parliamentary flats.

He said all this budget is taken from the approved budget for financial year 2016/17.

MP for Francistown South Mr Wynter Mmolotsi had asked the minister to state how much government had spent in establishing the two new ministries and give a breakdown of the cost and where the money was sourced. ENDS
