FIFA development office moves to Johannesburg

04 Dec 2016

The Gaborone FIFA Development Office will re-locate to Johannesburg, South Africa effective January 1, 2017.

A press release from FIFA development officer, Ashford Mamelodi states that such follows a decision by FIFA headquarters to re-organise and re-structure of the FIFA development offices.

The release says it has been determined that going forward there will be two offices in Africa and nine world-wide; a reduction from 13 previously. The other office will be in Dakar, Senegal.

It also states that the Gaborone development office is presently winding down and is expected to close for business and permanently on December 20.

It explains that all outstanding matters at the date of closure will be resolved in early January 2017 by Mamelodi.

In the release, Mamelodi has, on behalf of FIFA, thanked Botswana government and Batswana for hosting the office for the last 16 years.

“For those of us who worked in the office since inception there was clearly no place like home,” Mamelodi says.

Further, the release says any enquiries on the matter should be communicated with FIFA Communications in Zurich, Switzerland. ENDS
