13 of Batswana live the vision

05 Jun 2013

Even though 92 per cent of Batswana know about Vsion 2016, 13 per cent actually live the vision and have made it part of their lives.

Vision 2016 representative, Mr Obakeng Kwenantsi said this during Dutlwe Open Day on June 1. He said the worrying statistics compelled the Vision 2016 council to devise a new strategy to improve the situation.

“Every month we choose a pillar from the list and work closely with institutions that relate to the vision and infuse the message of the vision with those relevant structures to make more individuals aware of how the vision can be lived,” he said.

Kgosi Motsehegetsi Puleng of Dutlwe implored the residents to take the event seriously, noting that public servants dedicated their time and energy to explain government programmes that could improve their lives.

Kgosi Puleng’s sentiments were echoed by Dutlwe Village Extension Team chairperson, Mr Felix Bogosi who decried that most of the time when government officials came to villages to address kgotla meetings, locals complained and asked questions that could have been addressed by extension workers.

“So events such as open day give the community and extension workers time to share all the necessary information in an open and free environment,” he said.

A management analyst from the Directorate of Public Service Management, Mr Joseph Moroka appreciated the initiative and said Dutlwe residents had a vision, hence the success of the event. He explained that the country that needed to improve its work ethic as a united front as it was in competition with other countries that also sought to attract investors.

“It is therefore imperative that every service offered in government institutions should be rendered with ‘botho’ and a high level of dignity and professionalism,” he said. ENDS
