Gaborone sewerage project costs P915m to complete

Assistant Minister of Lands Management, Water and Sanitation Services says the Gaborone Sewerage Project which started in 2009 and completed in March 2013 was at a cost of P915 million.
He said the sewer network has 36 750 connections in Gaborone, (Gaborone West, Bontleng, White City and Broadhurst) and there are 15 894 households that are not yet connected of which 4 894 are from SHHA areas.
Mr Moipisi further said his ministry is offering residents an installment option to pay for sewerage connection and connection is only executed after full payment of P1 500 of the connection fee.
He was responding to a question by MP for Gaborone North, Mr Haskins Nkaigwa who wanted to know how much was spent in building the Gaborone sewer network and how many households have connected to the sewer network.
He also asked how many households have not yet connected to the sewer network. ENDS
