Okavango readies for RADs beauty pageants
05 Jun 2013
Okavango Sub-district Council chairperson, Samson Mauano has urged young women in remote areas to prepare for beauty pageants to be held in their villages.
He said at the just ended sub-council meeting that the pageants under the theme: Unearthing Talent and Beauty Among RADs, would be part of the affirmative action programme.
The pageants would expose the Rural Area Dwellers (RADs) to the world of competition and build a sense of self-esteem amongst them.
Mauano said preparations were at mobilisation stage, which included formation of committees, mobilisation of community and registration of contents, coaching the contestants and others.
He said two winners from Okavango Sub-district and Maun Administrative Dstrict would represent the North West District at the national competitions in Gaborone on November this year.
Furthermore, he said the villages that were expected to participate included Gudigwa, Tobera, Gani, Chukumuchu, Qangwa and Xai-Xai. ENDS.
