Francistown gravel roads cover 25. 4 kms

29 Nov 2016

Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Frans Van Der Westhuizen says the city of Francistown has 25.4 kms of gravel roads spreading across different parts of the city. He highlighted that the patches were left out due to inadequate funding when the rest of the roads were

upgraded to bitumen standard. He said there are currently no plans to have the roads upgraded to bitumen, however, stating that when the funding situation improves in the future, the said roads will be considered together with other similar competing projects countrywide. The MP for Francistown South,

Mr Wynter Mmolotsi had asked the minister if he was aware of the existence of gravel roads in Francistown and how the patches were left out when the rest of the roads in the city were tarmacked. He also wanted to know what plans were in place to ensure that the roads were tarmacked. ENDS
