Distribution of state power
29 Nov 2016
The Minister of Presidential Affairs, Governance and Public Administration, Mr Eric Molale has told Parliament that the principle of separation of powers is well entrenched in Botswana.
He said the constitution has made a determination as to how the state power is distributed and devolved between three arms of government.
The three arms of government are Parliament with the legislative power, the Cabinet with the executive power and the Judiciary.
He said currently, Parliament provides insight on the Executive through Parliamentary Committees and other means provided for in the Standing Orders.
MP for Francistown South, Mr Wynter Mmolotsi had wanted to know how Parliament was expected to provide oversight on the Executive when it was not independent. ENDS
