24 Nov 2016
Puma Energy is the sole fuel provider of the Crete to Cape Vintage Air Rally, says Puma Energy general manager, Mr Mahube Mpugwa.
Speaking during a media briefing in Gaborone, Mr Mpugwa said Puma Energy found it necessary to be part of the vintage air rally to raise funds for international charities, UNICEF, Bird Life International Botswana and Seed Bombing. “Puma Energy is proud to be affiliated with vintage air rally. We pride ourselves in supporting events such as this one that boost tourism and celebrate the beautiful locations that our brand has presence in Botswana and across the African continent,” Mr Mpugwa said.
He further said it was a privilege for Puma Energy to supply fuel, oil and lubricants that were able to sufficiently maintain the vintage planes. “We are committed to ensuring the security of supply through refueling stops and guarantee that the fuel is available in the right quantities at the right places,” he said.
The vintage air rally will see 12 vintage big planes that were manufactured before 1939 embark on a journey from the Greek island of Crete through many other countries and finish at Cape Town, South Africa.
In Botswana, the planes’ first stop will be Mashatu air strip and will also land at Sir Seretse Khama International Airport on December 11 at the invitation of President Lt Gen. Dr Seretse Khama Ian Khama.
The 2016 vintage air rally comprises teams from 18 countries, among others, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, Russia, South Africa, United States Britain and Botswana. BOPA
