23 Nov 2016

The Assistant Minister of Basic Education, Mr Moiseraele Goya, says he is aware that Molongwa Junior Secondary School is in need of maintenance.

The assistant minister said in Parliament on Monday that he was also aware that boarding master’s house almost burned due to a power surge that affected the Khakhea-Mabutsane area.

He said the Botswana Power Corporation attended to the faults in the power line and his ministry attended to the electrical faults in the boarding master’s house.

Minister Goya further said the last cyclic maintenance was carried out at the school during the 2005/06 financial year. He said the school was safe for daily operations and general maintenance of the school was continuous and on-going.

He said maintenance included replacement of day-light switches and lights at both the boy’s and girl’s hostels, the boarding masters house and the replacement of broken glass window panes that would be completed by November 30, 2016.

He further said the ceilings had been replaced in 13 staff houses, while replacement of doors is also on-going and scheduled for completion by January 2017.

The minister was responding to a question in Parliament asked by Jwaneng-Mabutsane MP, Mr Shawn Ntlhaile who asked the minister if he was aware of the appalling conditions at Molongwa Junior School and the boarding master’s house almost burned down due to an electrical fault. BOPA
