The new Botswana Athletics Association (BAA) affiliate, Mantheng marathon from Tswapong, will host its first activity at Borotsi on July 13.

In an interview, one of the organisers Kese Ditsabatho said participants would run a half marathon of 21.1 km. The race would start from Borotsi from 7 am through Matlhako village to Ditshoswaneng road and back to Borotsi.

He said they were expecting about 100 participants mainly from Tswapong South and North constituencies, Mahalapye, Palapye and Serowe. Ditsabatho said the main objectives of Mantheng marathon was to promote tourism in Tswapong area and to assist potential athletes to reach BAA standards.

 He said other objectives included promoting healthy living through exercising as well as enabling community and service providers to interact. He said, BAA as the main sponsor of the event, would take care of everything adding that the event would be held annually in Borotsi.  ENDS
