Formal sector employment statistics annually

Assistant Minister for Presidential Affairs, Governance and Public Administration, Mr Thato Kwerepe, has told Parliament that information on formal sector employment is compiled by Statistics Botswana on an annual basis from September to September.
He said overall employment created by government was 2 171 people as at September 2015 and for 2016 the report was being compiled and would be ready by end of the year. Mr Kwerepe said there was no formal report from Statistics Botswana on jobs lost.
Francistown South MP, Mr Wynter Mmolotsi had asked the minister to state the number of jobs that had been created by government from 2015 to date and number of lost jobs in government institutions and parastatals during the same period. ENDS
