The managing director of Adansonia hotel, Praful Jog has called on basketball teams to register with the Registrar of Societies.
Speaking during the Botswana Basketball Association (BBA) annual general meeting in Francistown on Saturday November 19, Jog noted that it was worrying that some teams fail to register as that could disadvantage the association.
He called on the incoming executive committee to ensure that all BBA associates comply with the requirements of the Registrar of Societies in order to continue participating in tournaments.
Jog said it was commendable that BBA records were up to date with the Registrar of Societies and called on individual sports administrators and leaders of clubs to display their commitment to ensure the association and the sport prosper through their collective effort.
While, Botswana National Sport Commission (BNSC) affiliates were upping their game in developing their images, he BBA should not be an exception.
“You may do that by engaging the services of a patron to assist in strengthening your position in the corporate world and in that case you will stand a good chance for sponsorships and other investments by the business community,” he said.
Jog commended the sport for showing signs of growth as it continues to participate in International Basketball Federation (FIBA) accredited tournaments.
He further implored the incoming executive committee to extend programmes such as Re ba Bona Ha to other areas such as Francistown, Maun, Shakawe and other areas as the progrmme has proven to bear fruits.
