The Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Ms Botlogile Tshireletso, says the possibility of setting up a Village Development Committee (VDC) for Meriting including other villages in Ghanzi Sub-district Council is a matter that her ministry is handling.

Responding to a question in Parliament, she said after completion of the exercise, recommendation would be presented during the December sitting of council after which a decision would be made.

She said the absence of a VDC in Meriting would not hinder developments since the area was  represented in the Bosele VDC and out of 10 members, three were from Meriting Ward.

MP for Ghanzi North, Mr Noah Salakae had asked the assistant minister to state when the residents of Meriting Ward in Ghanzi North constituency should expect to have their own VDC and whether lack of VDC in Meriting would not hinder developments in the area. BOPA
