Some few kilometres from Jwaneng, in the village of Sese sprawls a tuck-shop that is strategically positioned along the road belonging to one 42-year-old Ms Tshwaro Raloiphetlhe.
Ms Raloiphetlhe, a native of Sese, has always believed in her entrepreneurial instincts which she acquired while working for Humble Beginnings Company where she served for 27 years.
Through the Poverty Eradication Programme, she was provided with some fresh produce and other necessitues to the tune of P13 500 to kick-start her fresh produce tuck-shop, a gap she had long identified in her village and dreamt filling it.
Ms Raloiphetlhe said she chose fresh produce business because she had vast experience in the industry and knew she could make it a success, especially that she chose an appropriate place where demand was high.
Armed with a customer care service short course credentials, she has no problem keeping the business buoyant so much so that in a quiet month she garners around P6 000 whereas in a feverish month she harvests up to P8 000.
She said the retributions of the business helped her build a house and buy a car, which she uses to procure stock in Jwaneng.
Among challenges bedevilling her business she counts theft, which however is far from being a deterrent because, she knows it is part of life.
She encourages those who have benefited from the programme to work hard to bring about change in their lives, saying those who are yet to apply should go for something that they are passionate about. BOPA
