Boteti schools under maintainance

15 Nov 2016

Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Ms Botlogile Tshireletso says it is not true that there has been no maintenance done in Boteti primary schools during the past 15 years.

Responding to a question in Parliament, Ms Tshireletso said the correct status was that a total of eight out of 10 primary schools in the Boteti East Constituency were maintained between the years of 2005 and 2016, adding that the schools that were maintained were Khwee (2005), Mokane (2006), Mokubilo(2007), Mmea (2010), Mmatshumu (2012), Seaseole (2015), Letlhakane (2007) and Mosu Primary Schools in 2016.

She said the two schools which have not received major/cyclic maintenance were Supang and Retlhatloleng, adding that her ministry through the Central District Council would continue to undertake major maintenance utilising the current budget whilst the funds availed under ESP would go towards providing shortfalls in infrastructure across the country.

She noted that the council has planned to maintain 24 primary schools across the entire district in 2017/18 and would carry out minor routine maintenance as and when required using funds provided to individual schools under the Handyman Programme.

MP for Boteti East, Mr Sethomo Lelatisitswe had asked the assistant minister if there were any plans to do maintenance at primary schools in the Boteti East constituency . BOPA
