WDCs receive P6 125 for BOT50

15 Nov 2016

Ward Development Committees (WDC) in Gaborone were given P6 125 each for BOT50 independence celebrations by the city council.

The Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Ms Botlogile Tshireletso said. Speaking in Parliament on November 15, Ms Tshireletso stated that over and above usual allocations from council, there was also a P1 million BOT50 allocation to Gaborone District by the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development.

“Initially the Ward Development Committees in Gaborone were to be given P4 125 each as per budget, but each Ward Development Committee was topped with P2 000, making it P6 125 for each Ward Development Committee, which was more than the P5 840 given to Ward Development Committees in 2015 celebrations,” Ms Tshireletso said.

She was responding to a question asked by Gaborone North MP, Mr Haskings Nkaigwa who had wanted to know how much was given to each Ward Development Committee in the BOT50 Independence Celebrations.
