BDF continue dominace over GU

13 Nov 2016

BDF XI dominance over Gaborone United (GU) continued in Molepolole on Saturday when the former went through to the semi finals of the Mascom Top 8.
The duo played to a one-all draw, which saw BDF win the two-legged tie  with a 4-2 aggregate.
GU started the game with a mission to reverse a 3-1 drabbing of the first leg.
Matebele equally displayed good football in their quest for a place in semi-finals of the lucratic tourney.
Their defensive type of play frustrated GU’s desperate and frantic attack.
Moyagolele were however first to draw blood through Mpho Kgaswane to raise hopes for supporters as their team continued to search for a second goal, but was frustrated by wasteful attackers and by BDF equalizer before recess through Bitwell Phiri.
Though GU in second half continued their dominance in play, fire power upfront continued to be their undoing and goal drought seem to haunt them following departure of their lethal target man Benson Shilongwe.
In the last 15 minutes, both teams failed to leave to the expectations and it was BDF XI wingers, who dictated pace of the game, pinning the now immobile GU defence line.
Though GU were able to connect and passes ball around their desperation to score goals, they made frantic and hasty decisions on attacks which was advantageous to their opponent who quickly countered with pacey wings.
The Gaborone giant’s exit from Tse Ditona Tournament added to string of losses for once glorious Money Machine famous for sweeping most football awards. end
