09 Nov 2016
The Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development is yet to decide on whether Makgaba settlement will be recognised as a village.
Local government assistant minister, Ms Botlogile Tshireletso told parliament that the ministry was still processing a recommendation from Central District Council for Makgaba to be approved as a village.
“Central District Council assessed the settlement and on the basis of the assessment, Central District Council made a recommendation to my ministry. We are currently processing this recommendation through relevant structures for consideration and approval. Once a decision is made on the matter, Makgaba residents will be informed accordingly,” the assistant minister said on Tuesday (November 8).
She said no government projects are planned for Makgaba under Economic Stimulus Programme as the place is not a village yet. Boteti South MP, Mr Sethomo Lelatisitswe had wanted to know whether the settlement would be confirmed as a village during the current financial year. ENDS
