Quad bikes allocated to needy areas

Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture bought a total of 10 quad bikes during the 2015/16 financial year.

Answering a question in Parliament, Assistant Minister of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture, Mr Kefentse Mzwinila said in procuring the quad bikes, the ministry used selective tender method and sourced quotations from three suppliers who fully met the set specifications.

He indicated that the quad bikes have since been allocated to needy areas of Ghanzi, Charleshill, Hukuntsi, Letlhakane, Letlhakeng, Gumare, Good Hope and Mabutsane.

“The quad bikes are used to monitoring youth projects in hard to reach areas across the districts,” he said.

Member of Parliament for Francistown, Mr Mmolotsi had asked the minister how many quad bikes were bought by his ministry in the last three years and whether a tender for the supply of the said bikes was floated.He also asked the minister to state where the bikes were currently kept and what they were being used for.
