Football lovers were treated to a spectacular show over the weekend in the Debswana First Division North when Motlakase Power Dynamos edged Ecco City 4-0.
Chouka-Chouka displayed a performance akin to that of premier league outfits to secure maximum points from Mamoja Disc.
Right from the start, Motlakase proved to be too much to the Francistown side since their hunger for goals was evident with a well taken strike by Sino Chabalala just outside the box giving Chouka the lead.
It was a busy day for Mamoja Disc as Chouka mounted pressure and dominated ball possession. Chabalala sustained an injury and was replaced by Mojwadi Matlotlo who went straight to business and tormented Ecco's defense with his quick runs.
Dipelo Oaitse connected a perfect run by Motlakase winger Katlego Ralegoreng to take the tally to two goals. Ralegoreng who throughout the game proved to be a nightmare to his opponents continued to dazzle the spectators with his amazing moves with the ball.
Mojwadi Matlolo scored the third goal and his first this season with an assist by Itumeleng Mabuaeme. Matlolo came in as a substitute earlier on replacing Chabalala. He later scored his second, again with an assist by Itumeleng, taking Motlakase tally to four goals.
Although the game looked like a one-sided affair, Mamoja Disc kept on putting some pressure and was later awarded a penalty in the dying minutes of the game which they missed.
With four wins in five matches and losing only one game, away, Motlakase have a perfect home record and have set their eyes on a return to top flight football.
Head Coach for Motlakase Pule Mogotsi could not hide his excitement.
“We applied ourselves very well. Our intention was to play a high pressure game. We stuck to the plan.”
On the other side, Texan Phiri, head coach for Ecco acknowledged that they were outclassed.
“Our combinations somehow didn't work. All departments were not working,” referring to his boy’ inability to create chances.
The jubilant mood was visible at Motlakase camp with team captain Tshephang Boithatelo thanking the fans for their continued support and appealed for more as they travel to Maun next weekend.
Mojwadi, the right winger who bagged himself a brace aims to continue his goal scoring form to help in returning Chouka-Chouka to its glory days.
“My goal is to take the team back to the premier league and see myself growing as a player,” he said. Ends
