Nico triumph over Moyagoleele

Nico United beat Gaborone United (GU) 3-1 during the BTC Premiership league encounter at Selebi Phikwe Stadium on Saturday (November 5).

The Selebi Phikwe based team, United was the first to score through Gift Moyo 18 minutes into the first half.

However, GU’s Kabelo Seakanyang leveled the score just a few minutes before the halftime break.

United continued where they left off before halftime and scored another goal, five minutes into the second half through Constain Muleya.

The final goal of the match was scored by Godknows Mutina roughly 15 minutes before the final whistle of the game to give United a 3-1 win.  

United has registered two wins, one draw and two losses already while GU had  registered two losses, two draws and one win. Nico’s coach Dean Mwiinde said he was happy with the outcome of the game. He said his boys did their best and followed instructions.

He said beating a strong team like GU, one of the elite league giants, showed that the team had what it takes to do well in the league. He said his intention was for his team to gain a respectable position in the elite league. “We will continue working hard and winning more games so that we gain a better position than last season,” he said.  

GU’s coach Rodolfo Zapata said the players did not do well and could not overcome the mining town’s team.

In the five rounds played so far the Selebi Phikwe team has registered two wins, one draw and two losses. Gaborone United on the other hand currently on position nine with five points have so far registered two losses, two draws and one win. ENDS
