Tafic succumb to Maun Tigers

After four games without a defeat since the beginning of the Debswana First Division league North, Tafic Football Club succumbed to Maun Tigers in an avalanche of 5-3 scores at the old Francistown Stadium on Saturday (November 5).
The hotly contested match drew sparks from the first whistle with both teams testing each other’s depth of play. As the game approached the fifth minute, the host, Tafic seemed to take more charge of attacks on their visitors from the midfield even though Tigers had put up a solid defensive shield on the middle of the park to deny Matjimenyenga boys to attack from the centre.
Seeing what their opponent were up to, Tafic immediately changed tactics, deploying an active role on the right back.
On the fifth minute, Tafic’s napping defence of Gofamodimo Kobe and Zeco Makafiri were easily beaten on a fast paced attack by the visiting side’s troublesome striker, Onanofile Setsiba who slotted in their first goal to give his side an early goal.
Feeling rejuvenated, Tigers continued attacking the sloppy Tafic defence which couldn’t coordinate well to shield the attacks and on the 12th minutes, Ononofile Setsiba punished Tafic again with another un-attended breakthrough to ensure he bag a brace and give his team a 2-0 lead.
The host started losing the game on the middle of the park and their wing attacks easily halted by Tigers deployment of two Marksmen at the Tafic’s goal post and two sweepers to prevent any run by their opponent on the side. With that in check, Tigers started to dictate the terms of the game with their torrential goal scorer running freely on attacks.
The avalanche of goals kept piling with Tafic yet again pulling another goal surprise on the 39th minutes courtesy of Mbatshi Machongo to ensure they stayed ahead of the game. The two teams went for first half with Tafic leading Maun Tigers 3-2.
When the second half whistle blew, Tafic once again made their intention to net another goal clear when Mbatsi Elias’ shot on target curler missed the goal post by an inch.
Tigers substitution strategy paid dividends and on the 59th minute, Meshack Mahamba answered for Ngambera by scoring their third goal of the match to give them a 3 all draw score sheet.
The Maun side’s most talked about striker for the day’s game who really terrorised the Tafic defence because of his quick pace and skillful dribbling skills, secured his hat trick of the game on the 65th minute to open a 4-3 lead to Tafic.
Feeling pressure, Tafic Coach made more decision on substitution by pulling out a defender, Zeco Makafiri for Molebatsi Kangangwane and also removed the versatile Motseoatile Elijah for the talented 18-years-old Golebaone Baopedi. But his substitution did more harm on his game plan than good as it left his defence widely open for attacks, which were now coming from all side led by the marauding Onanofile Setsiba.
On the 92nd minute, the free roaming, Onanofile Setsiba once again put the last nail on Tafic’s coffin by securing his fourth goal of the game to give his team a full time score of 5-3. ENDS
