197 students receive special support

The Assistant Minister of Basic Education, Mr Moiseraele Goya says 197 students who obtained grades D and E receive Special Education Support in junior secondary schools in the Southern District.
Responding to a question in parliament from Kanye South MP, Mr Abram Kesupile, Mr Goya said the major components of the Special Education Programme included; learner assessment and placement, remediation, screening and referral.
“These components make it possible to achieve the objective of access, equity and inclusion of leaners,” he said.
Mr Kesupile had asked Mr Goya to state the number of children in Form One who obtained grades D, E and U in their Primary School Leaving Examinations who were receiving special education or special tutoring in the junior secondary schools in the Southern District.
Kanye South MP also wanted to know the major components of the special education or tutorial programme and what it had achieved.ENDS
