03 Nov 2016
The Minister of Mineral Resources, Green Technology and Energy, Advocate Sadique Kebonang has told Parliament that the ministry is not considering to review Botswana Power Corporation Act (Electricity) Bye-Laws (CAP:74:01).
The Act stipulates that the corporation is not liable for damage to electrical appliances due to power surges because it is the responsibility of every customer to put in place all the necessary measures and protection for their appliances to ensure that they are not damaged by power surges.
Ramotswa MP, Mr Samuel Rantuana had asked if the minister would consider reviewing the said Act, since a lot of homes had been burnt down due to power surges. ENDS
