GNT rolls over Tasc

01 Nov 2016

Sensational Great North Tigers (GNT) striker Aobakwe ‘Marobela’ Mopaki proved to be the difference between his side and Tasc when he netted a penalty on the 66th minute to win the game for his side on Sunday.

The Francistown outfits had met in the Debswana First Division North (FDN) encounter at the old Francistown Stadium under soaring heat and Mopaki was the man to watch throughout the game as his escapades terrorised Tasc shaky defence.

Mopaki proved a thorn on the defence of Tango Boys, as Tasc is affectionately called and his partnership with Boweelo Palalani was a marvel to watch throughout the game.

Palalani was however wasteful for most part of the game despite his high work rate and pronounced his presence to the Tango Boys early in the game, when he beat Tasc defence manned by the likes of Smarts Mokhuchane, Modisakgotla Gaonyadiwe and Moagi Marman.

Tasc watched for most part of the game as GNT dictated terms and Palalani as well as Mopaki forced the defence to be on guard for most part of the first half.

The game was however not just a one sided affair as Tasc striker, Victor Watlala also managed to shake GNT defence but failing to beat Kabelo Mutumba on GNT’s goalposts.

Their heavily built striker Gofaone Dikalanyane could not terrorise GNT defence as the likes of Koziba Gibson, Motlhalefi Leshiba remained resolute throughout the game.

Mopaki’s second half strike came via a well calculated move into the Tasc 18 yard area on the 65th minute, when he was brought down just before he could put a shot past Sekang Pilane in Tango Boys goalposts.

The hardworking Mopaki then stepped up to grab the only goal of the game and sent their few supporters into wild celebrations.

Tsaone Maswate failed to equalize for his side and possibly earn a much needed draw in the dying minutes of the game, irking his bench who had hoped for a last minute equalizer.ENDS
