Matjimenyenga trounce Mamoja Diski

31 Oct 2016

Tafic proved too tough for Ecco City Greens when they trounced them 3-0 in Francistown on Saturday.

The first division north game, which brought together the city’s two giants, started 15 minutes late under the scotching heat.

Both sides did well to play their usual game under such hot conditions.

Ecco, also known as Mamoja Diski and under the tutelage of Texan Phiri, seemed to come into the game the better side, despite that both teams came into the game tied at seven points each from three games

On the sixth minute, evergreen right back, Walter Moyo’s counter-attack and a snappy long range effort produced a corner out of Tafic’s goal minder Chamu Madamombe after his captain, Thato Mosweu lost the ball on the other half of Mamoja Diski, but the corner resulted in nothing tangible.

With its right and left flanks making numerous runs and sending in crosses, it looked as if Ecco was going to have a field day dictating terms to the Wrist Mmusi and Blessing Moyo coached Tafic boys.

Tafic, affectionately called Matjimenyenga by  supporters, absorbed the pressure and also took the war to Ecco through the likes of skillfull Mbatshi Machongo and hardworking Mbatshi Elias.

Then on the 41st minute, a long ball from Madamombe sent in Elias on a counter-attack mode, beating the Ecco offside trap and sending in a shot that was parried back into play by goalkeeper Tumelo Morupisi, only to find Machongo ready to tap it in and open the score-sheet, making it 1-0.

Tafic’s goal then pushed the ‘Ndipe ndi kupe’ boys into an attack mode and soon on the 45th minute, Elias sent in a great ball into the box, forcing Mooketsi Mampori to produce a spectacular overheard kick, but the effort went wide.

In the second half, Tafic continued their scintillating form and were nearly rewarded on the 46th minute when the lanky Gofhamodimo ‘Gah’ Kobe’s header went wide with only Morupisi to beat.

Veteran Ecco midfielder Nicholas ‘Mambush’ Matlhare’s left footed effort failed to pull one back for his side when Madamombe easily saved and the once dangerous player could not do more to save his side on the day.

Kemoreng Batisani made it 2-0 on the 55th minute after Moyo blundered and lost a ball just outside the 18 yard area, sending Tafic strikers into an attack mode.

The goal took a lot out of Mamoja Diski and Matjimenyenga supporters started singing and cheering their side on as they sensed it was their day to bury Ecco with an avalanche of goals.

Phiri then introduced Onkemetse ‘Manando’ Powe for the left footed Jimmy Frank who had terrorized Tafic defence earlier but with no results.

Powe then made his presence felt in the game when his great header was cleared off line with Madamombe on Tafic’s goals well-beaten.

Tafic wrapped up the day’s on the 89th minute when Golebaone Baopedi hit a right-footed strike to make it 3-0.

The results put Tafic on top of the log. ENDS
