Peril target promotion

31 Oct 2016

Black Peril are targeting promotion to the BTC Premiership at end of the season, according to coach Nelson Olebile.

Peril are third on the first division south league after winning twice and drawing once.

Their impressive run continued with a 1-0 victory over Prisons XI in Gaborone on Saturday.

Nsuka Panzu scored the decisive goal in the second half after both teams huffed and puffed hardly creating clear-cut chances.

The first chance fell to Gaolebale Tshelametsi who headed straight at Peril goalkeeper Victor Mothakaja in the 14th-minute after a good cross from Omphile Lenyatso, while Thabiso Boti tested Prisons goalkeeper Bakang Methole with a snapshot moments later.

The famine of chances continued in the second half until Panzu settled matters by burying a header past Methole in the 69th-minute.

Olebile said afterwards that the win meant a lot to the Tlokweng based team, stressing that they were on the right track to challenge for promotion.

“We have said it clearly that we would be challenging for honours.

These boys have been together for quite some time, so I told them that guys let us go out there and fight because I know we can conquer.

And gradually, game by game, I think we would reach our objective which is going to the Premier League,” Olebile explained.

“We played very well today. We knew they would play direct balls.

We knew that if we could be organised we would be able to defend them and play balls into the channels, and immediately after scoring our goal we sat back because we had gotten what we wanted,” the former Extension Gunners assistant coach added.

Olebile was full of praise for the team captain David Mfolwe who was a commanding figure in the Peril defence.

“He is a seasoned player and has seen it all.  The team needs his inspiration and experience.  He is a leader and gives us the organisation we need at the back,” the Peril boss said.

Prisons tasted their first loss of the season and are now fifth on the league with four points.

Meanwhile, Sharps climbed to the top of the log with a 1-0 victory over Matebejane.

Other results are: Notwane 0-0 Uniao Flamingo Santos, Mogoditshane Fighters 2-1 Letlapeng, Modipane United 1-0 Skoon Boys, and Mochudi Rovers 1-1 Lesirane City. ENDS
