25 Oct 2016

The second round of My Spar My Botswana Netball League started on a mild tone when Notwane beat Prisons 57-48 in Gaborone on Saturday.

Notwane showed hunger from the beginning when they overpowered their opponents, winning the first quarter 18-8.

Seeing that they were lagging behind, Prisons started the second quarter on a high note and took the game to Notwane.

However, despite their fighting spirit, the two teams scored 13 goals each during the quarter.

The game was also tight in the third quarter, although both teams’ energy levels were dwindling but Notwane won it by a difference of one goal.

In the last quarter, Prisons girls came a better opponent thus scoring more goals and they won 15-13 but despite their gallant fight, the game was already wrapped and lost 48-57.

Meanwhile, Notwane coach Sithulile Mlotshwa said though her girls blew cold at the end, she was pleased with the results as they did not have enough training.

She said most of the girls were still at school therefore they were busy with their studies and did not have time to prepare much for the game.

Prisons coach Regent Pitso said the results were not bad at all, since the margin was nine, adding that they played very well in the two last quarters.
