Organisers of the first ever sports expo say the event will attract specialists in different fields related to sports.
The expo, organised by Perspective Magazine, is billed for Gaborone on Saturday October 29.
“We are going to have specialists in fields of education, nutrition, enhancements, motivation and financial advisors as speakers during the expo. These are the most critical aspects of sportsmen as we have seen all over the wealthy athletes going from riches to rags due to their social life and peer pressure,” said Mpho Mooka, founder of Perspective Magazine.
Mooka said they had invited Botswana National Sports Commission and its affiliates to set up stalls at the expo, further explaining that invitations were sent to different sporting clubs, which wanted more commercialisation and increasing memberships and markets for their merchandise.
Mooka said they expected over 100 exhibitors to showcase their respective areas of speciality in over 22 sporting codes, adding that they anticipated attendance levels to exceed 5 000 people.
“This is an opportunity to be educated, informed, inspired, ignited and interact with a vast array of sportsmen, finance, educational, fitness, beauty and well-being exhibitors, speakers and presenters.
The core mandate is to create an atmosphere of engagement amongst those involved with sports.
Sports Expo will comprise of participants from segments such as sports goods, sports apparel, fitness equipment and gear, sports education, tourism (adventure) sports, sports health as well as sports nutrition.
Furthermore, we will have exclusive demonstrations, sports clinics and other activities mostly relating to training equipment and services,” Mooka explained.
Mooka said they had also teamed with Sports Africa, the core business of which was to connect job seekers that want to work in sports industry with sports employers.
He said Sports Africa was operating in South Africa and was expanding work in sports into all the African countries where each country would run their own sports recruitment agency. ENDS
