Ngurungu register first victory

Maun based Sankoyo Bush Bucks registered their first victory this season by beating Police X1 1-0 in a BTC Premiership League played at Botswana Police College on October 22.
Of the three games that Sankoyo played, they managed to play one all draw against Nico United, and registered a 2-1 loss at the hands of the army boys, BDF X1.
Saturday’s victory came as a relief to Maun side, after Botshelo Mafoko received a beautiful cross from Thopo Motheng and Mafoko did not waste the opportunity but headed it home just on the eighth minute of the game.
The early goal destabilised the host the entire first half as they were playing under pressure in the event committing a lot of school boy error’s inside the box.
Police came back a better side after recess but their main enemy was Ngurungu goal minder, Kabelo Kuti who over time performed very good acrobatic saves to deny the Jungle Kings clear scoring opportunities.
The results therefore means that out of the four games Police have played they are yet to register a win, given that in their opening game against Gaborone United they lost 2-0 and Gilport Lions also took their share by beating them 1-0.
They only managed to play to a one all draw against the defending champions Township Rollers, and now the writing is on the wall that Police X1 coach, Maitumelo Letlaamoreng is under immense pressure to bring results.
“I cannot deny that there is a lot of pressure especially when the team is not doing well, we played four games we got only one point, obviously pressure is there, “he said after the game.
The coach said although his team was a better side in the second half, they still could not find the back of the net.
Letlaamoreng said an early goal by Sankoyo destabilised his side, adding that the visitors also went to sit back in numbers to protect their solo goal.
Furthermore, he said it was very difficult for his team to fully penetrate Sankoyo’s defence, adding he was worried that they conceded a “silly” goal which he said changed the whole the game.
“I am also worried that since the start of the league, we only managed to score only one goal against Township Rollers, but we do everything that we can, but the ball can’t just go at the back of the net,” he said.
For Sankoyo assistant coach, Gadimang Tiiso it was a sweet victory more especially away from home.
He said they came up with a defensive formation and put two speedy strikers who can destroy Police defence, which he said was a little bit slower.
He said their game plan was also to close the Police deadly players, Ogomoditswe Sitang, Phenyo Molefe and Betsho Pius then launch counter-attack, something which he said paid dividends, hence they managed to win the encounter.
Meanwhile in other BTC Premiership league games, Mochudi Centre Chiefs and Security Systems played to a goalless draw on Friday at Molepolole Sport Complex.
On Saturday, Township Rollers walloped Jwaneng Galaxy 2-1 in Jwaneng, Extension Gunners and BDF XI played 0-0 at Lobatse Sport Complex, Orapa United earned three valuable points by beating Gaborone United 1-0 at Molepolole Sport Complex, while Serowe derby between Miscellaneous and Green Lovers ended with a 1-1 stalemate.
