Ndzonga calls for creativity in business

18 Oct 2016

Kgosi Toteng Ndzonga of Nkange in the Tutume Sub-district has advised upcoming entrepreneurs to come up with unique business ideas.

In an interview, he said a lot of youth had a tendency to apply for same projects and fail to be creative.

Kgosi Ndzonga said this led to challenges of market saturation.

Therefore, it became difficult for other entrepreneurs to penetrate the market, which eventually led to closure and collapse of some businesses.

“It is crucial that upcoming entrepreneurs should always strive for innovative projects that would help them stand unique.

This will not only minimise repetition of similar projects, rather there will be a better change to secure a market since end products will differ,” he said.

Kgosi Ndzonga also noted that unique projects would not only set apart business, but would positively contribute to the growth of economic activities in the village.

He said this could also present employment opportunities that would help improve the living standards of people in the area.

Kgosi Ndzonga also said failure to come up with viable ideas made it difficult for some people to benefit from government initiatives meant to empower entrepreneurs.

“Though the government has availed and implemented several initiatives to elevate entrepreneurs, some still fail to benefit because they apply for the same projects that have long existed,” he said.

He further advised that the youth should consider other sectors such as construction, manufacturing and property development.

Such projects, he added, had potential to economically empower people as they were labour intensive.

He also raised a concern about some potential entrepreneurs who are reluctant to set up their business in the village for fear of lack of market opportunities.

The geographical location of the business should not discourage them, he added.

Kgosi Ndzonga also said the fear to set up businesses in the village would cripple the efforts to improve the economic activities and job creation opportunities hence the slow pace of developments. ENDS
