Rail Park Mall celebrates 5th anniversary

17 Oct 2016

Minister of Transport and Communications, Mr Kitso Mokaila and his counterpart in the Investment, Trade and Industry, Mr Vincent Seretse are expected to grace the Rail Park Mall fifth anniversary celebrations billed for Thursday.
A press release from WindRush PR states that the celebration will include whopping discounts, instant giveaways and offers for shoppers at key stores across the mall including Furnmart, Taku, Spar, Sole Shoes, CB, Signature Cosmetics and Fragrances, Beaver Canoe, Topline, Style, Pie Time, Dodo’s and The Hairess Hair & Beauty Boutique.
The mall, which offers a one-stop, family-friendly and easily accessible shopping experience is the brainchild of JTTM Properties (Pty) Ltd, wholly owned by Botswana Railways and was first opened for business on October 20, 2011 and officially opened on the April 23, 2012.
The press release says the mall boasts of extraordinary features that make it stand out as one of the modern shopping centres in the capital city.
The 32 500 square metre shopping mall houses 123 stores in total, including Puma Filling Station and the newly reconfigured stalls.
The release further says customers will continue to benefit from the Rail Park Mall’s ‘Buy and Spin Promotion’ where they simply buy for P50 or more at any of the participating stores and stand a chance to win an all-expenses paid trip for two to Cape Town.
Further, it says pre-anniversary celebrations include lots of spot prices won between October 8 and 15, while the grand finale will be held on October 20.
The release says the mall, managed by Khumo Properties, has successfully maintained its position as Botswana's favourite destination mall for over five years now.
It adds that its fifth anniversary therefore is a landmark achievement driven by the loyalty of its patrons.
Khumo Properties chief executive officer, Mr Outule Bale says in the release, “We are delighted that our philosophy of delivering quality and value for money has continuously engaged our shoppers. The Buy and Spin Promotion is our way of thanking and reaffirming our commitment to our customers. Moving forward, we look forward to serving our shoppers, keeping them entertained, relaxed and offering the best deals in town.”
Mr Bale also says the mall, grandly sitting in the heart beat of the city, pulsates with exciting new energy every day to its sundry visitors.
Strategically and superbly located next to the ever flourishing Gaborone Bus Rank and Station, the mall reportedly continues to be a model attraction to pedestrians and the commuting public who augment the shopping mall’s 800 000 foot traffic per month.
“On average the mall has over the past five years maintained tenant retention ratio of 96 per cent, although those tenants who left were replaced almost immediately. Also, due to its position as a link between the main transport hub and the rest of the city on the other side of the railway line, the mall has had to cope with high foot traffic volumes which impacted on services such as public toilets and escalators.  Others were challenges associated with any newly constructed building that has to go through a snagging period before it settles. The tenant mix also needed enhancements in order to strengthen the quality of cash flows and value of the mall as an asset,” Mr Bale says in the release.
However, he says snagging challenges were largely dealt with by the project team as part of their contractual obligations and others were enhancements. ENDS
