Mongala Mall Spar supermarket has been voted the best store by a panel of judges in an annual competition that covered both Botswana and South Africa recently.

The store manager, Ms Florence Ortell said in an interview recently that the competition was intended to inculcate the spirit of service delivery across all their stores.

Under the theme: “Cultural diversity for the past 50 years,” she said they invited traditional choir groups to the celebration with a view to appreciate the evolution of culture since independence in 1966. She said the theme was motivated by the nation’s golden jubilee celebrations.Ms Ortell also said her store was building a house for a less privileged resident of Mongala ward, and that they also do business as a way of corporate social responsibility (CSR).She revealed that they also donated Bot50 t-shirts to Sebego Primary School drum majorettes as part of their CSR. Meanwhile, the Cheetah Scout troop leader, Mr Thabang Selaledi was happy to have been invited to partake in the ceremony. He explained that the organisation equipped members with life skills that moulded them into responsible and law abiding citizens. Mr Selaledi also said they have certificates of recognition for disciplined members which could back them up when they applied for jobs. He encouraged young people to steer away from delinquent behaviour. KIDZ academy marimba group also provided entertainment. ENDS
