GU dominate Police XI

10 Oct 2016

Gaborone United (GU) repeated its last season dominance over Police XI football club when they clobbered them 2-0 during a BTC premiership league game played on Sunday (October 9) at Molepolole Sports Complex.

Though Rudolf Zapata’s boys dominated they failed to utilise and convert possession into goals due to too many passes in front of opponents’ goal area giving Police XI chance to recoup and clear their defence lines. Moyagoleele’s attacks in numbers paid off in the 41st minute through Karabo Phiri’s outside box shot to Bobby Mathe’s near post to give GU a lead.

The Jungle Kings failed to utilise high long balls strategy, which only isolated middle field from linking the attack and defence, the feat which later Police coach Junior Letlamoreng conceded that it contributed to the loss as middle field could not coordinate nor supply the forwards.

In the second half, Gaborone United continued where they left from and added another goal through Hendrick Moyo in the 57th minute after the defense failed to clear a shot range shot forcing the keeper to parry into Moyo’s  feet to easily net.Coach Letlamoreng conceded that indeed GU was all over his boys who played second fiddle to the ball as opposed to their opponent who exploited the isolation of the middle field and penetrated defence lines who were always on retreat from incessant GU assault.
