Zebras outclass Antelopes in independence dazzle
30 Sep 2016
Botswana senior football national team christened Zebras wrapped up the golden jubilee celebrations for the country well as they beat the Sable Antelopes of Angola 4-1 at the National Stadium on September 30.
The friendly match was closing the curtain on a series of activities meant to celebrate the country’s 50 years of self -rule.
The teams were deadlocked one-all at the end of regulated time. And it took the brilliance of Kabelo Dambe between the sticks as well as the clinical finish of spot kickers to seal the victory for the Zebras. Without doubt the day belonged to the young Thabang Sesinyi who after netting the only goal for the Zebras before recess, went on to take the first spot kick, setting the tone for others
“ The win was a fitting gift for the nation as they celebrate 50 years of independence,” Zebras gaffer Peter Butler told the national broadcaster Botswana Television after the win. ENDS
