Township Rollers has secured lucrative deals to the tune of P 2.5 million from different sponsors this season.
Speaking at the sponsorship launch, Township Rollers president, Jagdish Shah said his team has made strides in the last season as they managed to win the Barclays Kabelano Charity Cup as well as emerging the Mascom Top 8 runners up.
He said they were recently declared 2015/16 league champions, and that this comes after Rollers withdrawal of their appeal from the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on September 15 and the play-off match between Township Rollers and Mochudi Centre Chiefs played on August in which Rollers clobbered Chiefs 5-1.Shah noted that Rollers would also participate in the CAF Champions League.
He said during the last season, his team was faced with challenges amongst them, the pending court case and the Ofentse Nato saga, adding that their winning of sponsorship deals was a clear manifestation that Rollers was a big brand and could not be disorganised by off the pitch incidents.
The club’s chairperson, Walter Kgabung thanked Rollers supporters for supporting the team despite the challenges they faced.
“We went through difficult times, but let me take this opportunity to thank Jagdish Shah for having believed that we will overcome our problem and soldier on. In a nutshell, the challenges have been a pillar of strength,” he said. He encouraged supporters to attend games in large numbers and buy the team’s replica to help generate income.
Rollers sponsors include Premier Platinum Partner, Stanbic Bank, Gold Partner, Builders Mart, Silver Partner - Liberty Life, JB Sports and Shield Anti-Perspirants, Bronze Partner - Jack's Gym, Accommodation Partner - Cresta Hotels, Technical Kit Partner-Umbro. ENDS
