29 May 2013

Jwaneng Mine Hospital Superintendent has commended Water Utilities Corporation (WUC) for having embraced the aspect of Employee Wellness since 2006.

Speaking during the WUC Safety, Health and Environment and Wellness day in Kanye on May 28, Dr Mwamba Nsebula said wellness remains the key if the corporation is to remain relevant and continue to provide top-notch services to its customers.

“This demonstrates total commitment placed by Water Utilities Corporation on the well-being of its staff and individual employees need to adapt to this healthy lifestyle so that total results may be achieved,” he said.

The gesture by the corporation will go a long way in enhancing productivity especially that exercises help release a feel good attitude amongst employees; which could translate into a productive work force.

Dr Nsebula urged men in particular to seize the moment and be part of the Safe Male Circumcision national campaign so that they could benefit from an array of health programmes availed by the government.

He advised those that indulge in alcohol to seek medical assistance so that they may not find themselves in trouble or be lost to their families due to substance abuse.

For her part, Ms Goitseone Magetse of Alexander Forbes lectured on financial management expressed concern that Batswana continued to leave beyond their means. “You have to spend less on what you earn and save the remainder,” she said. She noted that many people find themselves trapped in debt because they spend their money before they earn it.

It was high time Batswana learn the ropes of financial management and go for long term investments such as the purchase of property instead of short term ones such as hire-purchase and personal loans that attracts huge interests.

She urged Batswana to solicit professional financial advice every time before making any investment lest they find themselves in dire financial strain at retirement age, when one needs to be content in life and debt free.

Outstanding employees as well as regional offices were also given awards for their sterling performances. ENDS
