Officers transfer month end

22 Sep 2016

President Lt Gen. Dr Seretse Khama Ian Khama has said the issue of overstaying of public officers in one station was being addressed.

President Khama said on September 21 when addressing a kgotla meeting in Mmea.

He stated that all ministries would be rounded up to ensure that public officers who had been in one area for a period of five, 10 and 15 years or more could be transferred.
He also noted that public officers had also complained for overstaying.

The President was responding to a question asked by Kgosi Paulson Keithaganetse of Mmea who had called for transfer of overstaying public officers.

An official from the Directorate of Public Service Management, Ms Maipelo Ragalase said transfers of overstaying officers would effect by end of September 2016 so that officers could report to their new stations by January 2017.

Kgosi Keithaganetse also requested the Minister of Minerals, Energy and Water Resources, Mr Kitso Mokaila to clarify the issue of electricity installation in Mmea village.

He also requested for an ambulance in the village, noting that they long made the request it in 2015 without success.

Kgosi Keithaganetse pleaded with the health ministry to establish means in which patients enrolled in Anti-retroviral programme could be assisted from Mmea as opposed to Mokubilo.

He also expressed concern with regard to shortage of staff at Civil and National Registration office. In addition, Kgosi Keithaganetse complained that dikgosi in Mmea should also be transferred from Tutume tribal administration to serve under Letlhakane tribal administration.

In response, minister Mokaila said Mmea could not be in the list of villages planned for electricity connection due to budgetary constraints. However, he noted they would consider installing solar power for electricty needs of the village.

Minister of Health, Ms Dorcas Makgato said the aim to have a doctor consulting twice a month in Mmea could not materialise since a doctor assigned for Mokubilo village did not have accommodation. She however said this would be addressed as a house will be constructed through Economic Stimulus Programme.

She said the doctor who would be based in Mokubilo would be able to assist patients on ARV in Mmea.
Minister Slumber Tsogwane stated that Boteti tribal administration offices had a shortage of six vehicles, saying Kgosi Keithaganetse’s request for a vehicle had been noted.

Mr Tsogwane said they had also tried to construct houses for teachers though they could not meet demand.

The Village Development Committee chairperson, Mr Motlhabi Maduma requested two LA2 houses for the clinic, two houses for teachers and increment of RASA from P613 to P1 000. Ends
