MYSC rewards youth
22 Sep 2016
The Ministry of Youth, Sport and Culture (MYSC) in Francistown has rewarded youth who have excelled in 2016.
Speaking at the awards ceremony recently, MYSC district youth coordinator, Ms Minkie Bokole said as the country was celebrating 50 years of independence, they wanted to be part of the celebrations by recognising youth who did well this year.
She noted that it was her ministry’s mandate to unearth young talent, adding that the youth could create employment for themselves and grow their businesses.
Ms Bokole commended the talent possessed by the youth and applauded the youth who have managed to pay back the loans received from youth schemes.
The guest speaker and mayor of Francistown, Ms Sylvia Muzila also applauded the youth for their talent in various sectors, saying they were recognised internationally.
She commended the ministry for improving the lives of the youth by helping nurture their talent as some of them were able to survive the challenges of unemployment.
Ms Muzila implored the award winners to continue their good work as it showed that they were moving forward and goal oriented.
The mayor encouraged the youth to promote Vision 2022 of Francistown and to strive to wipe out unemployment in the country.
One of the award winners, Ms Amanda Lebang of Talama Collections thanked the ministry for their support, saying they were now doing business internationally.
She said it was due to hard work and persistence that they were being recognised locally and internationally, and encouraged other youth to produce quality goods that meet international standards. Ends
