Orange calls for submissions as deadline approaches

With a little over a week left till the closing date of the Orange Social Venture Prize, Orange calls out to all social entrepreneurs to try their luck at winning P307 000 towards their innovative business.
According to a news release from Orange, through the Orange Social Venture Prize, Orange will identify and award Four technology oriented start – ups from Africa and the Middle East a total P307 000 towards development and implementation of their business idea.
“The competition closes on 21 September which means that our local social entrepreneurs have a little over a week to put together and submit their proposals in order to stand a chance at the grand prize,” said PR and Foundation manager at Orange, Ms Boga Chilinde-Masebu in the statement.
She says through the competition, Orange aims to reinforce its digital partnership with start-ups to achieve social and economic development through innovation stimulation.
“In addition to the P307 000 that is up for grabs, as Orange Botswana we will identify and award a prize for the best local submission, a first in the history of the OSVP,” she said.
The release further says the Prize is intended to showcase and support start-ups who use information and communication technologies (ICT) to innovate and make a positive impact to communities in Africa and the Middle East.
It says the start-ups should be offering innovative products or services that meet the needs of Africans in fields such as health, agriculture, education, energy, industry or trade. ENDS
