15 Sep 2016

YAMADA Lubrication Botswana has donated a vehicle to Jwaneng Galaxy football club.

Speaking at the handing over of the Toyota Ipsum worth P48 000, the company’s director, Bonang Mosimanyane, said the gesture was an answer to the call for different contractors in Jwaneng to invest in sports development.

She said their company, which was sub-contracted by Jwaneng Mine to do supply, maintenance and lubrication of mining equipment, saw the need to donate a vehicle that would transport players from places such as Sese and Maokane to train in Jwaneng.

It would mostly transport young players who are under development.

“We were touched to learn that some children arrive late at Sese using public transport after training and that leaves their safety questionable,” she added. Mosimanyane added that the donation was a way of assuring parents that their children were safe after training and also to attract parental support towards the initiative. Mosimanyane, however, cautioned the team management against using the vehicle for other undesignated duties.

When receiving the donation, the team’s president Tumelo Ntlhayakgosi applauded YAMADA Lubrication Botswana for the gesture noting that, there was need for the business community to invest and extend a helping hand at grass would go a long way in helping football stars of tomorrow. Ntlhayakgosi called on other contractors in Jwaneng to step forward and invest in sports.

He assured the donors that they would ensure good use of the vehicle and further invited them to do audit anytime they so wished. He highlighted that Galaxy was a project in process and all their sponsors would be proud to associate with the club. The two entities also made an agreement that Galaxy FC would insure the car and also ensure regular servicing and maintaining all the time.

The team, which was formed two years ago after merging Jwaneng Comets and Debswana Young Stars, managed to elevate to the premier league after two years of existence.
It is currently under the tutelage of Mike Sithole after the former. ENDS
