University of Botswana lecturer, Dr Happy Siphambe has encouraged business delegates to celebrate developments they have created with the little resources they had.

Giving a keynote address at the 14^th biennial National  Business Conference (NBC)in Francistown, Dr Siphambe said celebrating 50 years of socio-economic development, reflection on the journey travelled and beyond is a great achievement because other countries have more resources but with fewer developments.

He said NBC provides a platform for them to engage with the government and find solutions to any regulatory issues that could undermine the competiveness for their business.

Dr Siphambe said connecting Botswana to the rest of the world through affordable and reliable resources broadband infrastructure had the capacity to build Botswana.

He said before Botswana gained its independence they used to walk to school bare footed with classes taught under trees, no hospitals and roads but today they are but the vibrant resilience and prosperous private sectors.

Furthermore Dr Siphambe urged business sectors to go beyond and create more employment especially for youth and women, noting that with good governance and the leadership they have could all provide according to the policy.

In addition he said the trend of poverty eradication is going down but have not achieved their goal, however they still have a long journey after celebration.

Dr Siphambe noted that privatization in Botswana is not moving very fast and only Botswana Telecommunication Limited managed to do so.

For his part Business Botswana vice president north, Mr Palalani Motlhobogi acknowledged the presence of  President Lt Gen. Dr Seretse Khama Ian Khama.

He thanked all in attendance that made the day a success and mentioned that with the challenges faced they hope that they will come up with resolutions to implement to see how far they have gone. ENDS
