Botswana improves on health issues

Ministry of Youth, Sport and Culture (MYSC) programmes officer in Lobatse, Ms Mphoentle Hans, says Botswana has made significant improvements on health education under the Vision 2016 pillar of a compassionate, just and caring nation.
Ms Hans said this in an interview during the first Lobatse Fitness Day hosted by MYSC on Saturday (September 10).
She said fitness activities encouraged healthy lifestyle in the community and noted that a healthy mind and body allowed a person to think positively and efficiently.
The event folloowed the national one launched last year in Gaborone by the Minister of Youth, Sport and Culture, Mr Thapelo Olopeng.
Ms Hans explained that those who chose to exercise stayed fit in the mind and added value to development of the country.
She also said despite challenges of HIV/AIDS and other diseases which the country faced, Batswana were taking note of appeals by government to improve their lifestyles and behaviour.
Lobatse Fitness Day was hosted in partnership with BOCAIP, Bomme Isago, Fokotsa Dino and Lobatse District Health Management Team.
Activities included aerobics, athletics, tug of war as well as screening of chronic diseases. ENDS
