Business key to development

The Business community in Francistown has been implored to put God first and use their entities to solve problems.

Speaking during  the BOT50 Business, Economy and Market Place Conference organised by the Ministers Fraternal at the Civic Centre recently, a Nigerian pastor, Apostle Victor Ugchebulam urged the business community to take advantage of problems and use their solutions to make money.

Apostle Ugchebulam explained that if a business does not solve problems then the society cannot give it its money. He cited that prior to the introduction of Microsoft, accountants could not do their job easily and Bill Gates invented Microsoft to solve that problem.

“The Unilever Brothers took advantage of dirt to set a soap industry that is well known to solve hygienic problems,” he said. Apostle Ugchebulam, who is an engineer by profession, noted that Botswana is one of the richest countries in terms of cattle yet it still imports dairy products from South Africa.

“Somebody can solve this problem and come up with a yogurt production industry,” he said.  He noted that any nation that is built on God’s is a successful citing that although Israel has only 0.22 per cent of the world’s population she has collected 26 per cent of global Nobel Prizes in agriculture, medical ,health care and other industry because the country is founded on the word of God.

He further said the other principle that is a must have for the business people is vision of their businesses, why they want the business and how they want to run the business.

Apostle Ugchebulam further encouraged the business community to have disciple and desist from gratifying themselves with luxurious lifestyle before the business is well established. “If you want your business to prosper you must reduce liabilities and work towards accumulating more assets for the business,” he said.

Welcoming the participants of the conference, Mr Gadzanani Makopola who is a businessman in Francistown said the seminar was aimed at empowering the business community in the city, to help them realise their role in the implementation of the city’s Vision 2022 and to sensitise them on their role during the celebrations of the golden jubilee and beyond.

The 0sentiments were shared by the district commissioner, Ms Tebogo Hlabano who said the conference was aimed at bringing the business community to seek for God’s intervention.

Ms Hlabano observed that although   government availed all resources to assist business some still do not perform to expectation. She encouraged her audience to play their part in ensuring the success of their businesses and to deist from depending on the government for everything. ENDS
